A fine copy of this rare and important chart from Sir Robert Dudley's "Arcano Del Mare" covering the southern and western coasts of the Isthmus of Panama from Nicaragua south to the Columbian coast at Cape Francesco. To the westwards the Cocos Island is shown and "Las Gualapagus e. vicinodel Equinozio" - an early reference to the Galapagos. Dudley's atlas is renowned for the very fine engraving by A.Lucini and that this was the first sea-atlas produced by an Englishman, albeit one exiled to Italy, and completed uniformly on Mercator's projection.
