A detailed and colourful map of the Turkish Empire extending from the Adriatic to the Straits of Ormuz and the Caspian Sea. A large decorative cartouche, flanked by figures in traditional dress and displaying some of the wares of the Empire, completes this fine example of eighteenth century German mapmaking. The crescent of the Empire appears atop the tents of the title cartouche. The dark engraving style is typical of Lotter's maps and conveys his bold confidence. The name of Abraham Drentwet, the artist, appears in the title cartouche.
