A detailed chart of part of the west coast of Madagascar showing the bays of Tullea and St. Augustin. Coastal profiles are given at top right to aid with navigation - this chart was very much intended for practical usage. Some coastal detail is shown with significant rocks and heads named. Numerous sounding depths are given and the sand banks and breakers are clearly defined. The coasts were surveyed in 1755 and 1768 and published here by Sayer and Bennett. The British Library holds an example of this map in an untitled Sayer and Bennett atlas dating from 1776, according to Rodney Shirley's "Maps In The Atlases Of The British Library".
