A magnificently decorative map of Central Mexico between Mexico City and the Pacific, from the so-called "golden age" of Dutch cartography of the seventeenth century. The map is adorned with an elaborate title cartouche at upper right showing the arms of Spain and surmounted by native figures. A lettered key is given at lower right and a numbered key appears in the Pacific, which is also decorated with a sailing ship and sea monster. This is an early (1636) German text edition of Jansson's publication.
