John Pine's "Tapestry Hangings Of The House Of Lords ..." illustrated Robert Adams 1588 maps, subsequently destroyed by fire, recording the defeat of the Spanish Armada. This plate shows, within an elaborate border, the Thames from Tilbury to London with the City's defences and fields of fire from the many forts along the banks. Some restoration and reinforcement to centrefold, but a very decorative example.
