From Ortelius's famous work "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum comes a good example of an important map divided in two sections. The upper part of the plate shows detail of the Mexican Pacific coast around Culiacan. The lower section features the northern islands of the West Indies in detail; in particular Cuba, St Domingo, the Bahamas and the Virgin group. A fine engraving.
