An early eighteenth century edition of Jansson's attractive map of Egypt oriented, to conveniently fit the cartographic detail on the plate, with north to the right. The Nile delta and area around Cairo are well detailed whereas the areas to the south become increasingly devoid of anything but mountains and desert. The large titlepiece, at lower right is decorated with European and Egyptian figures with astronomical instruments against a background of the Pyramids. Vignettes on blank areas of the map show camels, horses, goats and a crocodile. A decorative and uncommon map.
