Remarkable map of the Americas with at least ten Great Lakes. The author shows some doubt over the claim of other French cartographers that there existed a 'Great Sea Of The West' by remarking that "C'est Dans Cette Partie Que L'on Place La Mer De L'Ouest Incertaine." A typically French creation, with an ornate border surrounding the map and descriptive text flanking it. The text has been stuck onto the sheet, whilst two separate plates have been used to print the map and the border. This elaborate border occurs elsewhere in Brion and Desnos's work.
