An important map from one of the earliest world atlases published by the Blaeu family, the "Atlas Appendix ...". The plates were engraved by Jodocus Hondius and were purchased by Blaeu to form the nucleus of the world atlas. As an early 'pull' from the plate, this is a notably good impression. The map shows the northern coast of South America, Venezuela eastwards to the mouth of the Orinoco, and includes Trinidad, Tobago and other offshore islands.
