Using the plates bought from Hondius, Blaeu issued this interesting map of Chile with north appearing to the left of the page, in his "Atlas Appendix ...". Only coastal areas have been explored and mapped in detail. Decorative ships and monsters adorn the water and a decorative title cartouche, compass rose and mileage scale appear in place of interior detail. As an early 'pull' from the plate, this is a notably good impression of this sought-after map.
