Octavo. Tp, pp.xxii, pp.548 + three folding charts by R.W.Seale. Identified on the title page: "With charts of the Southern Part of South America, of part of the Pacific Ocean, and of the track of the Centurion round the World." Published by John & Paul Knapton and compiled from Anson's records by Richard Walter, M.A., ship's chaplain to the Centurion on that expedition. Some marginal dampstaining to the front fly leaves and title-page. Quarter bound calf, worn boards. Label on the spine reads 'Anson's Voyage'. "Compiled From Papers and other Materials of the Right Honourable GEORGE Lord ANSON, and published under his Direction. By RICHARD WALTER M.A." In 1739, when war broke out with Spain, Anson was given command of a Pacific squadron with the Centurion as the flagship to raid Spanish possessions along the South American coast - this command eventually becoming a circumnavigation of the globe.
