A good example of this important map - a reduced version of Waldseemuller's map of 1513, the first to give detail according to modern discoveries, of the northern and western coasts of Africa. The coastal placenames are derived from Portuguese sources, but the interior comprises a random selection of mountains, rivers, vignettes of animals, throned kings and so on.
