Originally designed as an 'educational' card that could also be used for games, the series was in fact one of the first to include major roads on individual county maps. This pair of scarce playing card maps of Surrey by Robert Morden comprises a first edition 'Ten of Hearts' and an unsuited 'Ten' from Turpin's edition of c.1773. The latter is in original outline colour and has additional place names. Both are trimmed to the plate edge and mounted, as issued. A most sought-after pair appealing to both map and playing card collectors.
