Lacks free endpaper, Tp (torn, top right corner missing including some text), engraved dedication to Her Royal Highness The Duchess of York, Princess Royal of Prussia, textual dedication, contents of plates and maps, pp. vii-xxiv interspersed with 6 plates and maps one of which is a movable and functioning geographical clock, Tp, pp.1-87 interspersed with 25 single page maps. All maps are well engraved and appear in an unusual circular frame and are attractively coloured. Some light offsetting and foxing to maps and text pages. Minor tears to occasional pages of text. Quarter bound in red leather, worn at hinges. Marbled paper boards with text from the House of Commons overprinted. A fascinating volume with interesting geographical text and marvellous illustrations. The full title is as follows "Universal Atlas and Introduction to Modern Geography in which are described the most celebrated Empires, States and Kingdoms of the World. With a general view of astronomy; the Solar System; the Fixed Stars and Constellations; Definition of Geography; Figure and Motion of the Earth; Vicissitudes of the Seasons &c; A Description of the Terrestrial and Celestial Globes; With Geographical Problems; Eastern and Western Hemispheres, &c. also the Method of Adverting to the Time of Day in Distant Nations, is clearly elucidated on A New Geographical Clock." Despite minor faults an attractive and scarce atlas.
