North America
|
A scarce Victorian educational publication issued with "The Popular Educator". The map, with north to the left, shows Alaska as "Russian Territory" and is flanked by gazetteers of the countries and their capitals, and lists of physical features such as mountains, islands and rivers. "The Popular Educator", a weekly partwork published by Cassell, Petter & Gilpin followed the pioneering educational publications of Charles Knight and the Society of Useful Knowledge's "Penny Magazine".
