An uncommon copperplate map of England and Wales based on Lhuyd's map used by Ortelius in 1573. Matthias Quad was one of the leading Cologne mapmakers; a school of mapmaking distinct for its skillful, bold, angular engraving style, and a reliance to draw heavily upon the work of other contemporary mapmakers such as Ortelius, Mercator and de Jode. German text to verso, good condition.
