A famous map from the first world atlas produced in England, "The Prospect Of The Most Famous Parts Of The World". John Speed's map, engraved by Dutchman Abraham Goos, is a typically informative compilation of cartography and visualisation with figured borders at each side displaying native characters of Syria, Arabia, Armenia, China, Moscovy, Sumatra and other south-east Asian islands. Along the top are plans and panoramas of major cities including Candy, Goa, Damascus, Aden, Ormus, Bantam and Macao. An early edition and a good, dark impression of this sought-after map.
