A mid-eighteenth century map of Cambridgeshire by Thomas Kitchin, published in volume 19 of the "London Magazine" in 1750. This publication, which was set up in direct competition with the earlier "Gentleman's Magazine" in 1732, contained maps of the English, Welsh and Scottish counties, and also of the Irish provinces, at monthly intervals until its' end in 1783. Kitchin himself was one of the best known and most prolific of English cartographers. This series is characterised by a clear engraving style, an extensive key to symbols, heraldry, accuracy, and symbolically decorated title cartouches.
