The Roads Of Ye South Part Of Great Britain Called England ...
|
"Note. This Map has been Copied four times very confused and Scandalously". This attractive map had first been issued as "A Pocket Companion Of Ye Roads Of Ye South Part Of Great Britain ..." in 1717. Now with a revised title and the imprint of Thomas and John Bowles, it can be dated to after 1732. The dedication to "His Royal Higness [sic] Frederick Prince of Wales" appears off the north Cornish coast while a table at top left gives the size in square miles of each county. Attractive outline colour delineates each of the counties and a key is given to identify the cities, archbishoprics, bishoprics and post towns. Minor restoration and reinforcement to lower centrefold.
