A Mapp Of Europe
|
An attractive and scarce English map of Europe extending as far as Moscovy and the Black Sea. Richard Blome's map of the entire continent is an anglicised copy of the pre-eminent French cartographer, Nicolas Sanson's, work. First published in the "Geographical Description Of The Four Parts Of The World" in 1670 the map was finely engraved by Francis Lamb and credits Sanson in the title subtext. It is all set in a decorative cartouche surmounted by the British Royal Coats of Arms and with a scene of military pageantry below.
