Blaeu's map of Galicia is delicatly and finely engraved in typical style. Original outline colour delineates the autonomous region's borders and highlights the major towns of Santiago de Compostela, Lugo, Ourense, Tui, Mondonedo, Pontevedra and Rivadeo. The map is based on the manuscript map of Fernando Ojea (1568-1615), which had been also been published by Vrients. Reference is made to Ojea on the map in the title cartouche at lower left where a merman supports a large conch shell with the title text. In the upper left corner are the arms of Galicia with the phrase "Hoc mysterium firmiter profitemur" adopted by Galicia from "Hoc hic misterium fidei firmiter profitemur" - Lugo cathedral unusually has the Blessed Sacrament perpetually exposed.
