Planisfero Del Globo Celeste

Planisfero Del Globo Celeste

A scarce, delicately engraved and distinctive celestial double hemisphere. Based on the work of Italian astronomer Francesco Brunacci, De Rossi's publication shows the northern and southern skies with their respective constellations. Also depicted are the sun, moon and other planets. In the lower right corner a list of the zodiacal signs is given and these are recognisable in pictorial form within the hemispheres. Beneath the whole is Francesco Brunacci's descriptive text of the celestial globe. De Rossi's map was published in the "Mercurio Geografico" - a fine example of Italian work from this period.
