Kandahar and Cabul to Burma and as far south as Malabar and Narsinga. Although published over one hundred years after the cartographic progenitor by Hondius, this spectacular version of the map illustrates eighteenth century German cartography at its finest. Engraved by the publisher's brother, Albrecht, the map has a large mileage scale at top left with native birds and cherubs offering trinkets, pearls and ivory, while in the lower left corner, an imposing title cartouche features mythological figures including Neptune and Mercury against a marine background. Further elaborate decoration includes a large vignette in the Gulf of Bengal of a large European vessel off-loading goods to a smaller coastal craft. In attractive typical original pastel wash colour.
