With German text to the verso this is a 1633 Hondius published version of Gerard Mercator's map of the Emerald Isle. In attractive and bright colour this is a good example of the map with wide margins. North is oriented to the right of the page and Mercator's signature remains evident in the lower left corner - later editions would remove this signature and have a revised title banner. The map indicates the Mercator style further with a stippled sea, elegant lettering and clear detail.
