A fine map of London and its environs with added views of the Royal Palaces - Windsor, Hampton Court, Kensington, the King's Hospital in Chelsea and the King's Hospital in Greenwich. These views are based on larger items by Johannes Kip that had been published in his book of British views. The map itself extends from Windsor in the west to Dagenham in the east, and from Norwood in the south to South Mimms in the north. The whole is heightened by bright, original colour. Homann also produced similar maps of Royal Residences in other countries (including Madrid and the Spanish Palaces) perhaps indicative of his desire to reach an international market and to seek Royal and courtier approval.
