Volume III from Depping's six-volume description of the British Isles includes maps, views and descriptions relating to the Scottish islands and Ireland. These attractive miniature maps by Aristide Michel Perrot were engraved by Madame Migneret and, in this example, have careful outline colour. The maps are decorated with motifs appropriate to the area covered, such as
fish, game, waterfalls, houses and ships complementing the textual geography which describes various regions' inhabitants, languages, customs and history. The work had first appeared in 1824 and this is the second edition of 1828. Handsomely bound in original calf with marble endpapers and fore-edge. Delicately embellished with gilt stamp. Edges a little worn and covers rubbed, and hinges broken. Nevertheless a most appealing
example of the popular, miniature book. ff.[i] half-title, Tp, pp.1-268 with 22 engraved maps and 3 views.
