This revised "modern" world map was published by Sebastian Petri in later editions of Sebastian Munster's "Cosmographia" (from 1588 onwards). It shows the world set within an oval frame with a decorative, foliate surround. The geography derives in part from Ortelius, following similar outlines in South America and the great unknown "Terra Australis". A very attractive example.
