An attractive miniature map from a very rare atlas, "El Atlas Abreviado, O Compendiosa Geographia Del Mundo Antiguo, Y Nuevo ...", published in Madrid by Francisco Laso. The atlas had re-engraved plates from Aefferden's 1696 first issue of the atlas in Antwerp, itself based on Jacques Peeters' very successful "L'Atlas En Abrege", published in 1692. Don Francisco De Aefferden was a cleric in Antwerp and his atlas was unusual for its Spanish text. The maps contained therein are charming miniature representations of the region depicted. With minor marginal reinforcement.
