A small and infrequently seen map of Egypt, showing both ancient and modern detail, by Tomas Lopez from his "Atlas Elemental Moderno O Coleccion De Mapas, Para Ensenar A Los Ninos Geografia". Tomas Lopez Y Vargas Machuca (1731-1802) was a Spanish engraver and publisher who had studied with D'Anville in Paris. When he returned to his native Madrid he began producing maps in his own name and had a career that lasted 40 years. He was succeeded by his two sons. Attractively coloured and rather charming.
