"A New Geographical Map Or Chart Of The Atlantic Ocean With The Continents Of Europe Africa & America &c: On The East And West Side Of It". Extending southwards as far as northern South America and the Gambia River and northwards to include Newfoundland, the British Isles and southern Scandinavia, the focus of this chart is its projection rather than the area shown. "This CHART is that Projection of the Spherical ZONE on the Surface of a CONE Invented by the Rd.Mr.MURDOCH & Described in Phil: Trans: Vol:L.1758". This map was published in the General Magazine and we are told "This is the First MAP or CHART of this Kind ever Published, Engraved by Emmanl. Bowen Geographer to his Majesty". Minor restoration to marginal tears. A scarce and fascinating map.
