32mo. pp.i-xii, pp.1-108, pp.xiii-xxviii with advertisements printed on the endpapers. Blue buckram binding with printed title, "Mellin's Pearl Atlas Of The World". The titlepage differs slightly in wording to the binding and reads, "Mellin's Atlas Of The World Containing Seventy-Two Maps Of Reliable Geographical Information In The Smallest Possible Space". This charming miniature atlas was printed by David Bryce and Son in Glasgow as an advertisement and "marketing tool" for Mellin's Food who were based in Peckham, London. Mellin's Food produced starch-free products that were aimed at "Infants, Invalids, the Aged and Dyspeptic" as well as all others keen to experience their "easily digestible, and very assimilable and nourishing" food stuffs. Maps include the world showing the countries of Empire, political and physical maps of Europe, a railway map of the British Isles, sectional maps of the British counties, a map of the environs of London and many others. COPAC lists just two examples of the atlas, held by the British Library and the National Library of Scotland.
