An attractive and finely engraved advertisement for the mapmaker Nicolas De Fer at his premises "La Sphere Royale". De Fer's address is contained within an elaborate depiction of cartographic imagery and allegory including the female figure of Geography, Neptune with his trident and Cybele, the goddess of towns and cities with a crenellated castle upon her head. Around this grand illustration, signed by Guerard as engraver, is a list of some of the maps available as well as games and "feuilles Historiqs". A wonderfully decorative and early cartographic advertisement.
