A detailed chart of, predominantly, the north Cornish coast from Mount's Bay to Bristol. Southern Wales is also shown extending as far as Newport. Major coastal towns are named, sand banks are shown and some sounding depths are also given. The whole is crossed by a series of rhumb lines emanating from compass roses. The large and decorative title appears at lowe left. It is surmounted by a portrait of Charles II (who reigned until
1685) and also includes a mileage scale in Dutch, Spanish and English miles. The whole is flanked by carefully engraved figures of the period - to the left are traders with sheep and woven cloth, while to the right are a husband and wife pointing markedly to the portrait of Charles II. A good example of seventeenth-centiru chart production from one of the most well-known chart-making families.
