A large and magnificent map of the Turkish Empire that was published by Hermann Moll in his renowned large atlas, "The World Describ'd". This example bears the imprint "Printed for H.Moll over against Devereux Court in ye Strand and John Bowles opposite to Stocks Market and T.Bowles, Print & Mapseller next to the Chapter house in St Pauls Church Yard". The map extends to include all of southern Europe, northern Africa and Arabia, as well as Turkey. In addition to the geographical detail there are inset views of Smirna, Constantinople, Jerusalem and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The whole is dedicated to the Honourable Thomas Vernon. Two small wear holes in the upper corners and a little discolouration at the centrefold, nevertheless this is a strong impression of an increasingly difficult to find map.
