A fascinating and detailed map of the ancient world, covering Europe, northern Africa, Arabia and India. Mountain ranges, rivers and towns are clearly marked; most interesting are the ancient place-names such as Eboracum and Petra, and the names of tribes such as the Anglo-Saxons (located with reasonable accuracy south of Denmark). In the upper left-hand corner is a diagrammatical representation of the names of the winds; ancient mileage scales are given lower left, and a note "Monitum" in Latin explains the thinking behind the map. Expert repairs to old folds.
