A good example of the standard seventeenth century presentation of Persia, present-day Iran, published by the greatest mapmaking family of the period - the Blaeus. Dutch mapmakers dominated Europe's map trade throughout the century and the most highly regarded, for the quality of design, engraving, printing and in-house colouring were the Blaeus, whose influence extended from around 1600 onwards.
