With vivd original colour, this is an important and rare map of Norfolk, with inset view of Norwich and decorated by coats-of-arms. Christopher Saxton's original map was the first of any individual English county, and formed the precedent for most maps of Norfolk during the Seventeenth Century. This edition of the original plate was published by Philip Lea, who added roads for the first time, the shield of Henry Howard, Duke of Norfolk, and the arms of Norwich in the inset plan. With small area of paper weakness expertly repaired; nevertheless a very attractive example.
