The north-west (upper-left) sheet from Jean Rocque's 16 sheet map of London and its environs showing Harrow On The Hill, Northolt, Roxeth Green, Sudbury, Greenford Green, Horsenton Wood, Preston, Wembley Green and Apperton. This sheet also includes part of the whole map's title at the top of the page and is numbered sheet XIII at the bottom. When first issued, the sixteen sheets represented the most comprehensive coverage of
London's environs ever made. This example bears a printed date of publication of December 28th 1744 in the lower right corner - as such this is, according to Howgego in "Printed Maps Of London", a first edition of the map. The survey work for the map as a whole was carried out between 1741 and 1745. The name of the engraver, Parr, is also given in the lower right corner. A little light centrefold staining, otherwise in good condition. A good opportunity to acquire this geographically specific
sheet from one of the most important and impressive maps of London ever produced.
