Michael Drayton (1561-1631) was a famous English poet. To map collectors he is best known for the very curious group of allegorical maps of the English and Welsh counties, engraved by William Hole, to illustrate Drayton's poems in the 'Poly-Olbion', which extolled the beauty of the British countryside.
