A detailed and highly scientific presentation of these Greek islands, rarely mapped alone. The title continues "... Et Des Cotes Voisines Levee Par MM Truguet Commandant La Corvette Le Tarleton Raccord, Sous-Lietenant De Vaisseaux, Et Assujettie Aux Observtaions Astronomiques Faites Par Tondu, Astronome, Eleve De M.M.Cassini Et Mechain". The map was engraved by Tardieu and Drawn by Dien, whose names appear in the lower margin. The map includes numerous sounding depths and indications of the wind speeds and directions - a practical guide to the mariner. On land, relief is clearly shown, major towns are named and even individual trees are discernible - indicating wooded areas. A good example of early nineteenth-century French mapping.
