A magnificent map of Benedictine Germany showing the monasteries and
with a key identifying the differing types. Although entitled Germany, the
map includes detail from Bruges on the coast eastwards as far as Prague and Vienna. Detail is also shown southwards as far as Brescia and the Gulf of Venice. The title cartouche is supported by a cherub in the lower right corner and includes Homann's name and the date of publication. In the opposite corner and elsewhere on the map are examples of Christian imagery. An inset plan in the upper right corner shows the Benedictine monasteries in Poland and Lithuania. One or two old repairs to areas of paper weakness and a printers' crease, otherwise in generally good condition with attractive original colour.
