Blaeu's map of Portugal and the Algarve is delicately and finely engraved in typical style. Original outline colour delineates the region's borders and highlights the major towns. With Latin text to the verso. The title appears in a decorative cartouche and is flanked by figures in contemporary dress with geographical and navigational instruments. North is oriented to the right of the page and the Atlantic is decorated with ships and Neptune (or a merman with trident in hand) as well as heraldry.
